Frequently Asked Questions

SPRAY TAN QUESTIONS

How do I prepare for a Spray Tan?
Before your spray tan scrub, scrub, scrub. Exfoliate the dry, dead skin on the surface (especially elbows, knees, hands and feet) so you can evenly absorb the tanning solution. A lightweight moisturizer can be applied to dry skin, but make sure to avoid heavy creams or body oils. The tanning solution will absorb through face moisturizers and makeup. Wear loose, dark clothing and flip flops preferably. Avoid clothing and shoes that are tight and constricting as they may rub off the tanning solution before it develops.

What should I wear during a spray tanning appointment?
Wear whatever is comfortable for you. Most people wear underwear, bathing suits or nothing at all.

How long does the tan last?
The tan usually lasts 5-7 days, then gradually fades just like a normal tan. Moisturizing your skin daily helps to prolong the tan.

I want to get a tan before a wedding / party / big event, but I’m nervous about the color…what should I do?
Do a trial run. At least one week or more before the event, get a spray tan to see if you like the color, how it reacts with your skin, and if you want to go darker or lighter with the color.

WAXING QUESTIONS

How long should the hair be for waxing?
The hair should be about a 1/4″- 1/2″ long for waxing. Too short of hair (under 1/4″) won’t all pull out with a wax strip and usually means a lot of tweezing. Too long of hair (over 3/4″) usually all comes out but it’s more painful.

Does Brazilian bikini waxing hurt?
Truthfully you will feel a momentary sting when you get your Brazilian bikini wax. It’s an acquired pain. The first time is usually the worst, but I promise it does get easier with each waxing. With regular waxing, every 4-6 weeks depending on your re-growth speed, the hair becomes finer and thinner over time making the discomfort much more tolerable. Taking an ibuprofen before the process to ease the discomfort is recommended. Avoid Tylenol or Asprin as it can lead to bruising.

What are the benefits to waxing?
No more stubble and razor burn! With waxing, your skin is hair-free for weeks at a time. When the hair does start to grow it’s finer, thinner and softer. With regular waxing the hairs become weaker and easier to remove, making for a less painful procedure. You will eventually see a reduction in hair growth with regular waxing.

FACIALS QUESTIONS

Will I break out from a facial?
Some people (not all) can have a breakout as a result from a facial treatment. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re allergic to the products or they clogged your pores. Usually what happens is there may be a lot of congestion under the surface of the skin. The facial is helping to break up the congestion and draw the impurities out. It’s really just kick- starting the process of getting your skin healthy, hydrated and clean. Usually it just happens the first time if ever.

What is Mircroneedling?
Microneedling is a pen-like tool that has several sterile needles that punch straight up and down and trigger collagen production through the wounding process. It is excellent at treating acne scars, smoothing skin with texture, and stimulating collagen and elastin production for a more youthful appearance of the skin.  Best results are seen with multiple treatments.

What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels include a variety of acids from mild to intense to treat the skin.  Not all chemical peels result in downtime and discomfort. Enzyme and AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) are derived from fruits found in nature (Pumpkin, Pineapple & Papaya, Apple, Almonds, Citrus) and remove the surface, dead cell buildup leaving your skin soft and glowing with no downtime or discomfort.  Jessner, TCA, and Retinol peels are more aggressive and treat the skin on a deeper level to correct damage caused by sun, aging, melasma (hormonal pigmentation), and acne. These peels have more discomfort and downtime for peeling anywhere from 3-10 days depending on the severity of the peel. These peels are not 1st time peels, they require lower level peels  and appropriate home-care to safely build up to an advanced peel.  Chemical peels are excellent for all skin types: acne, pigmentation due to sun exposure or hormonal discoloration, rosacea, and aging.

What is Galvanic Current?
Galvanic Current is a procedure very common in Europe that uses electrical currents to provide deep cleansing by softening and opening the pores to aid in the extraction process. You can also penetrate products deep into the skin on a cellular level to receive maximum benefits and target problem areas.

Should I do a facial before my wedding (or other “big” event)?
Of course you want to have beautiful, glowing skin on your wedding day. However, you want to start a skin care program at least 3 months before your big day, so you don’t come across any skin surprises (see above “Will I break out from a facial?”). Once your skin becomes accustomed to facials and you’re on an appropriate skin care regimen, schedule a hydrating facial the week of your wedding and you’ll glow on your wedding day. You should consider a wedding spray tan too!

Do I need to wear sunscreen every day?
Yes! Even if it’s raining and gloomy and the sun hasn’t brightened the skies for days you still need to wear sunscreen every single day. Sunscreen helps prevent against sunburn, but more importantly it helps prevent against aging. 90% of the aging process is due to external factors which include sun damage. So wear your sunscreen every day to keep your skin looking young.
